Cloud computing company Snowflake has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the technology powering the Datometry software migration solution, which makes moving from legacy data warehouses like Teradata to Snowflake up to four times faster while reducing costs by 90%.
The acquisition aims to help customers adopt Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud faster and more cost-effectively, which is critical as companies race to integrate AI capabilities into their operations.
Datometry was started to put an end to data migrations notorious for exceeding budgets and running late — often by years. The company developed a revolutionary middleware platform that enables existing applications to run on any database without any changes to SQL or APIs.
“This was exactly the kind of hard problem that our team thrives on,” Datometry team said in a statement.
Thanks to this technology, Datometry platform has helped customers with demanding data warehouse systems, seamlessly move to cloud data platforms. The transition was often so seamless that IT leadership often doesn’t need to notify their business users when they cut over to the new data platform.
By joining Snowflake, Datometry looks forward to accelerating the adoption of Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud. “Snowflake stands out with its uniquely connected and trusted platform that makes it easy to build, scale, and share data and AI applications,” says Datometry .
With Datometry’s technology, business users can be productive on Snowflake in no time, whether running classic ETL, business intelligence, reporting, or analytics workloads. Customers are now able to bring all their data and become AI-ready in record time.
The Datometry team looks forward to collaborating on a comprehensive vision of interoperability, with migrations being just the first step.
