Jaguar Land Rover to Restarts Production after Cyberattack

Tata Motors’ Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is to resume production after weeks of shutdowns caused by a serious cyberattack. A spokesperson confirmed that employees will be called in in the coming days to gradually restart operations at its UK factories.

While there’s no set date yet, JLR’s Wolverhampton site, one its three main production plants in the UK, is expected to restart first, followed by Solihull and Halewood. The return to full capacity will likely take several weeks, The Register reports.

The outage, which began on September 2, is estimated to have cost the carmaker £5-10 million a day and is considered one of the worst crises in the company’s history.

To cushion the financial impact and protect jobs in the supply chain, the British government provided a loan guarantee of £1.5 billion to JLR at the end of September.
