Amazon considers another investment in Anthropic

Amazon is considering an additional billion-dollar investment in Anthropic to strengthen their strategic partnership. This is in addition to the $8 billion cloud and e-commerce giant has already invested in the San Francisco-based AI company.

The Financial Times reports this, citing people with knowledge of the talks. Last November, Amazon invested $4 billion in Anthropic, a competitor of OpenAI. Amazon previously invested a similar amount in the AI company. The total investment is therefore approximately $8 billion.

By reinvesting in Anthropic, Amazon aims to maintain its position as one of the company’s largest shareholders. Another major investor is Google which has invested approximately $3 billion in Anthropic to date.
