Cyberattack on Hasbro Disrupts Deliveries

American toy company Hasbro has confirmed a cyberattack. Makers of Monopoly, Transformers, Peppa Pig and My Little Pony and Dungeons & Dragons, Hasbro discovered the intrusion on March 28 and warns of possible delays in product delivery.

Hasbro announced the attack in a legally required filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The company has token a number of systems offline and engaged external cybersecurity experts. Meanwhile, Hasbro is working with emergency measures to continue processing orders and shipping products, but this situation could persist for several weeks.

“While this is an unfortunate incident, Hasbro’s business operations remain open,” a Hasbro spokesperson told BBC News.

It is not clear whether hackers still have access to the systems. The company is still investigating whether attackers have stolen any data. It is also not yet known whether there has already been contact with the hackers, for example regarding ransom.

Hasbro has approximately 5,000 employees and has been in existence for 103 years.
