NTT DATA Cuts Data Centre Carbon Emissions by 34%

NTT DATA has announced the release of its 2026 Sustainability Report for NTT Global Data Centers, highlighting significant progress toward NTT DATA’s sustainability goals while continuing to expand the digital infrastructure needed to support growing demand for artificial intelligence, cloud computing and data-intensive applications.

As AI adoption accelerates worldwide, organizations are increasing investments in digital infrastructure to support rising compute requirements. The report demonstrates how NTT Global Data Centers, as part of NTT DATA, is advancing sustainable growth through investments in renewable energy, operational efficiency and innovative technologies that help reduce environmental impact while supporting client growth.

“Artificial intelligence is reshaping the digital economy and increasing demand for the infrastructure that powers it,” said Doug Adams, CEO and President of NTT Global Data Centers. “As we continue to grow our global platform, we remain focused on improving efficiency, reducing emissions and supporting our clients’ sustainability objectives. Our latest results demonstrate that innovation, growth and environmental responsibility can advance together.”

Key sustainability achievements include:

  • Cut operational carbon emissions by 34% since FY21
  • Increased renewable energy usage for non-IT load globally to 72%
  • Doubled renewable energy secured through long-term power purchase agreements compared to FY24, reaching 675 GWh for non-IT load
  • Achieved average annual PUE of 1.35 across its global data center portfolio1
  • Delivered 1.58 GWh of excess heat from a Frankfurt data center to support local community heating needs

The report also highlights continued investments in technologies and initiatives designed to support both growth and sustainability, including AI-driven cooling optimization, renewable energy procurement and heat recovery programs. These efforts help improve operational efficiency while supporting the increasing demands of AI-ready infrastructure.

“Sustainability is becoming a defining requirement for digital infrastructure,” Adams added. “Our clients want partners that can help them meet ambitious growth objectives while advancing their own environmental commitments. We believe the future belongs to organizations that can deliver both performance and sustainability at scale.”

These efforts support NTT DATA’s Net-Zero Vision 2040 and reflect NTT Global Data Centers’ broader strategy to build a more resource-efficient infrastructure foundation required for the next generation of digital innovation.
