Public sector lender Bank of Baroda’s (BoB’s) former Chief Digital Officer (CDO) Akhil Handa has stated he had resigned and was not terminated, says Moneycontrol.
In a statement to Moneycontrol Handa said, “My exit was a personal decision that I conveyed to the top management in August and since then I have been serving my notice period. The narrative of termination seems a deflection of operational lapses at the branch level issues.”
Bank of Baroda had terminated the contract of Akhil Handa, according to managing director and chief executive officer Debadatta Chand.
“We have taken action against a large set of people on the field. As far as the chief digital officer is concerned, it is a cessation of service induced by the bank. That is termination. Currently, we have put in somebody else as CDO,” Bank of Baroda MD and CEO Debadatta Chand said during the post-earnings call on Saturday.
The move followed the Reserve Bank of India’s restrictions on BoB for wrongfully onboarding news customers to its flagship BoB World mobile application on October 10.
Earlier on November 1, the Bank of Baroda had informed about the resignation of Handa as CDO in an exchange filing.
