Pantherun Technologies, a provider of innovative data encryption solutions, has announced its successful partnership with AMD, the high performance and adaptive computing leader, in the development of advanced TCP/IP encryption solutions aimed at securing industrial communications for critical sectors including factories, railways, and smart cities.
The collaboration between Pantherun and AMD tackled several critical challenges. First, unencrypted TCP/IP channels in vital infrastructure posed significant security threats due to the vulnerability of open networks. Additionally, industries required encryption solutions that operated swiftly without altering packet formats or communication protocols, emphasizing the need for non-disruptive security. Finally, implementing an integrated, secure platform capable of handling vast amounts of data in real-time was essential yet challenging due to the complexity of integration
The AMD Vivado ML Design Suite and Vitis software platform accelerated this complex integration. Vivado IP Integrator allowed Pantherun to quickly build and reuse IP and IP subsystems, capturing the hardware functions’ logical and physical interfaces from the Vitis environment.
Srinivas Shekar, CEO and Co-Founder, Pantherun Technologies said, “Working closely with AMD has allowed us to combine our expertise in software encryption with AMD’s innovative adaptive computing platforms, leading to the creation of solutions that not only enhance security but also offer unparalleled flexibility and scalability. We look forward to continuing our work together to safeguard vital infrastructure across various industries.”
The partnership led to the development of the Grace L2-Series Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch, leveraging FPGA-based adaptive system-on-chip (SoC) technology from AMD. This solution integrates several networking and computational IPs into a single chip using the AMD Zynq-7000 series SoC, enhancing security without the need for additional hardware. By merging ARM®-based processors with programmable logic, the system offers the flexibility to adapt to field changes using programmable logic. Additionally, the technology ensures full encryption of TCP/IP packets, including headers, without affecting packet format or network performance.
“By integrating our FPGA-based adaptive computing technology with Pantherun’s encryption solutions, we have developed robust and scalable security measures tailored to meet the complex needs of critical sectors. This solution offers advanced security at a lower cost than traditional methods without compromising on performance. The adaptive computing framework minimizes the need for complex hardware upgrades, supports in-field updates, and enhances security for industrial communications and control networks, making it ideal for extensive industrial applications,” said Rohith Gopalakrishnan, Country Sales Manager, AMD.
